Individual Therapy

Are you looking to connect one-on-one for support? If so, individual counselling is for you – your sessions will be tailored to your specific needs.

After meeting we will discuss goals and a focus for our sessions – which will be unique to you. This can take the form of compassionate therapeutic listening/talk therapy and/or a more structured learning with worksheets, reflections, and activities – depending on your comfort zone. Individual therapy is different than talking with your friend or family member. While they can be a social support and offer great advice, they’re rarely objective and are not trained in the various forms of therapy that a therapist is.

Also, unlike friends and family, a therapist is bound by confidentiality – creating space to build a trusting relationship with your therapist while you learn more about who you are and what you want in your life. When the trust and connection is established – that is when the real change happens. Individual counselling is currently being offered both in person as well as virtually to meet your needs.

Telehealth/Virtual Appointments

Support that is convenient and flexible.

This method of session is most suited for those with busy schedules, time constraints, and/or transportation challenges. Telehealth services have been proven to be equally as effective as in person therapy. It is important to note that when accessing telehealth you play an active role in ensuring your own confidentiality. It is important that you have a confidential and safe place to join the session.

Sessions are offered either via phone call or through a secure video and audio platform. Stay in your comfy clothes, grab a coffee or tea and join me for counselling from the comfort of your own space. Currently this service is only offered for individuals and not families.

Family & Couple’s Therapy

This type of therapy is where communication tools shine. Our approach to family counselling is not to be a mediator or to rehash your disagreements. The therapist’s role in sessions is to give your family the tools and techniques to communicate more effectively with one another. Sometimes this may involve personal reflections, individual take home assignments and in session practicing (role-playing). If each family member attending the sessions is committed to making positive changes, then this is the right step for your family.

If not all of family members are engaged in the therapy sessions, then this is not the service to choose yet. It is important to note that sometimes the result of a successful family therapy intervention is the opposite of what you may think. Sometimes with family therapy you may realize that more boundaries are needed between you and a family member or that a physical or emotional space is what is necessary to meet changing needs of the family system.

Family therapy is often the first service reached to when disagreements arise in families. If you are questioning whether this is a good fit for your family, please do not hesitate to reach out to the team at Wellness Within to schedule a consult.

Psychoeducation Workshops

Comfortable learning in a group setting and connecting with others in similar life transitions? Join the Wellness Within team and connect in a group setting to learn about a specific topic of interest for you.

These are small workshops that are offered both virtually and in person. These workshops are psychoeducational based and are not considered to be a therapy or support group. Many clients report feeling an overwhelming sense of comfort and support from gathering with others facing similar challenges. No only do you feel that sense of connection but you also get to learn some strategies to manage the challenges you are facing.

Please contact the clinic directly for current or upcoming workshops or view the “Workshops” page.
