If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, disconnected, or simply wanting support or clarity, therapy can be helpful. You don’t need to be in crisis or have a clear “reason.” Many people come to therapy because something doesn’t feel quite right, or because they want space to better understand themselves. If you’re curious about therapy, that’s often a good place to begin.

Our collective includes therapists who work with children, teens, and adults, and in some cases families or couples. Each therapist has their own areas of focus and approach, and we’re happy to help you find someone who feels like a good fit for your needs.
-
The first session is a chance to connect and get a sense of what brings you in. Your therapist will ask some gentle questions, explain how therapy works, and invite you to share at your own pace. There’s no expectation to tell your whole story right away. This session is as much about seeing how it feels to work together as it is about gathering information.
-
Yes—absolutely. The therapeutic relationship is important. If it doesn’t feel like the right fit, you’re always allowed to explore other options. We support clients in finding care that feels safe, respectful, and aligned.
-
Fees vary depending on the therapist and service. Current rates are available through our booking system or upon inquiry. We aim to be transparent and welcome questions about fees before you book.
-
Some therapists within the collective offer limited sliding scale or reduced-fee spots when available. Availability varies by provider, and you’re welcome to ask.
-
Many extended health benefit plans cover psychotherapy or social work provided by regulated professionals. We recommend checking with your insurance provider to confirm coverage. Receipts are provided after payment.
Save your receipts as counselling services are tax deductible as a medical expense.

Kyla Balderson offers direct billing to Non-Insured Health Benefits, Victim Services and some other third party agencies.

Therapy sessions are typically between 50- 60 minutes depending on the provider. There are options for brief sessions or extended sessions with most of the providers. Frequency depends on your needs and preferences—some people attend weekly, others bi-weekly or periodically. This can be adjusted over time and is entirely voluntary.
-
Therapy may be offered in-person, virtually, or in a hybrid format depending on the therapist and availability. We’ll help you choose what feels most accessible and comfortable.
-
That’s completely okay. You don’t need the right words or a clear plan. Your therapist can help guide the conversation, and silence is welcome too. Therapy is a space to show up as you are.
-
Yes, sometimes. Therapy can involve exploring emotions or patterns that matter deeply. Your therapist will work with care, consent, and pacing, and you’re always encouraged to share what feels supportive—or not.
-
Progress looks different for everyone. It might include increased self-awareness, feeling more regulated, responding differently to stress, or noticing small shifts in how you relate to yourself or others. Progress isn’t always linear, and we regularly check in together.
-
There’s no set timeline. Some people come for short-term support around a specific concern, while others engage in longer-term therapy. We move at a pace that feels respectful of your goals and readiness.
-
We GET IT! Things happen and sometimes our littles must tag along last minute. We believe in reducing barriers to counselling when possible - but therapy can be challenging to engage in when we have little ones moving around the room. If your littles are joining us the session will look a little different as some topics should not be shared with little ears present. You can chat about this more individually with your therapist to meet your needs.
-
That’s okay. Therapy should support your life, not add pressure. You’re always welcome to talk about taking breaks or adjusting frequency.
Our clinic requires at least 24 hours notice when cancelling appointments. A cancellation fee of 50% of the full-service fee will be applied if less than 24 hours notice is given and/or if you do not show up for your appointment. Thank you for your understanding of this important policy. It helps us be able to provide quality care to all our clients.
-
Our services are not emergency services. If you are in immediate danger or need urgent support, please contact local emergency services or a crisis line (1-866-616-6005). Your therapist can help you identify appropriate resources during sessions.
We do appreciate when you can update your therapist so that proper follow up can be provided.

A Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) in Ontario is a therapist that has graduated with a Master's degree and is registered with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). The Qualifying status stays with a therapist until they complete 1,000 direct client hours, and 150 hours of supervision from an experienced therapist and write their Registration Exam. They are authorized to practice and are often covered under extended health benefits under their own CRPO number or their supervising therapists registration number.
