REGISTERED PSYCHOTHERAPIST (QUALIFYING)

Ashley Couto

Welcome, I’m Ashley. I am a registered psychotherapist with a background in Behavioural Psychology (BA) and a master’s degree in Counselling Psychology. For over a decade, I have worked within social services supporting children, youth, and families navigating mental health challenges and complex needs.

I work with children, parents, and families facing big emotions, neurodiversity, or challenging behaviours. My goal is to create an inclusive space where everyone feels seen, heard, and supported to create meaningful change. My approach is strengths-based and attachment-focused, meaning we build on what is working, nurture connection, and build understanding. Children do well when they can, and behaviour can often signal unmet needs or lagging skills. Together, we explore what may lie beneath behaviours, uncovering the needs and emotions that drive them.

My work is grounded in a holistic and trauma-informed approach. I am attentive to root causes, environmental factors, and basic needs. I believe safety, security, and connection are essential to the well-being and development of every child and person.

Whether your child is struggling with big emotions, challenging behaviours, or feeling out of sync with the world around them, you’re not alone; therapy can offer a compassionate path forward. My goal is to support the whole family unit and provide a caring space where every child—and every parent—feels understood, empowered, and supported in their growth.
